While the R3 series keeps getting rave reviews from pros and regular customers alike, we have received requests from some riders with higher than average handlebar positions-like Allan Johansen of Team CSC-for headtube lengths to match. Enter the RS, our new STW design to accommodate these more upright positions while maintaining the high performance characteristics that set Cervelo apart. From tube shapes to carbon lay-ups to stiffness and strength, the RS is so good that even some CSC riders will use it next year, while those pros and regular riders with average or low handlebar positions will continue to be perfectly served with the R3 and Soloist ranges.

  • New seatstay design with built-in deflection mode for optimal vertical compliance.
  • Same handling philosophy as our other road bikes, but with longer headtube for those who prefer a higher handlebar position.
  • Special XS size-A smaller frame means the front wheel moves closer to the rider's feet, causing toe-overlap. While inconvenient at walking pace, this issue disappears at normal riding speeds as the actual steering angles become very small. We can prevent toe overlap by leaving the front wheel further forward, but that would affect weight distribution and handling. The other option is to use 650c wheels, but that means no neutral support at races. Since we build performance bicycles and will never compromise perfect handling, we accept some toe-overlap for the R3 and Soloist ranges, while offering the 650c wheel solution for the smallest size (XS) of the RS.
