The most frustrating thing about any new activity is getting started.
Our knowledgeable staff can help take the frustration out of getting started. We have so much more to teach to someone who is just starting out, than someone who is experienced. Don’t know how to shift or how to use the pedals? We can help. We understand that people can be intimidated by the “bike shop atmosphere” We invite you to take a leap of faith and experience the joy of riding…which is much easier when you are on a safe and comfortable bike!
FIT: The bike fit is the most important step in the process of purchasing a new bike. The Big Ring Fit process is the cornerstone to everything we do for our customers. The bike fit is where we assess your body’s perfect position to optimize, comfort, power, and efficiency. Equally important, we correctly execute those numbers into the proper fitting frameset and components. Properly applying these dimensions takes years of real world riding and fitting experience. We are so confident in this process that we guarantee the fit on bikes we sell. Come talk to us, and we think you will be amazed how comfortable and fun riding can be.

A poorly set up bike. Short stem with spacers and flipped up stem. (See detailed analysis why)

Identical fit dimensions properly executed! Proper stem length for given size of bike, minimal spacers to improve rigidity and handling. Height built into bike frame instead of fork steerer.
This will produce a bike that handles significantly better! The rider remains in an identical position. (See detailed analysis why)
Fancy tools are only as good as the person who is using them. Big Ring uses the latest technology in fitting but more importantly, our fitters have performed thousands of fits and have formal education in Bicycle fitting and sports Kinesiology. Since we are a small shop, every fit is performed by a highly experienced bicycle fitter.

The Exit Size Cycle
Big Ring Cycles uses the Exit Size Cycle for all the fits we do. In our experiences this is the best fitting tool currently available. This is a completely unbiased fit system that is also the only true X and Y (stack and reach) fit system. Using this system we can manipulate multiple crank lengths, use different saddles, stems, handlebars, shifter hoods, pedals, and even power with a Computrainer. To read more about our system check out www.exit-cycling.com.
NEW Bike fit: We size every new bike we sell. Our goal for every new bicycle fit is to find your body’s perfect position on the bike, and a perfect frame that complements those dimensions. Every rider has different characteristics that determine their optimal fit dimensions. These include: height, weight, flexibility, arm and leg lengths, age, and injuries. Many riders will have specific performance, (ride type, or ride feel) and budget expectations. This then creates a very particular set of parameters like blueprints to an architect that help make the perfect bike.
Current bike fit: Even if you are not considering purchasing a new bike, Big Ring Cycles can help you optimize the set up on your current bicycle. We will get you in position that is comfortable, powerful and efficient. We can also give you an honest, unbiased, professional opinion of how well your current bike fits.
